Welcome to FlynnCo.org. On this website, I am going to be trying to run a couple digital services that interest
me. I will be hosting an email server which will allow you to have a specific flynnmail.com address, as well as
access to emails with an inbox. I will also eventually be running a blog where I talk about my interests.
As of writting this, I am recovering from a shoulder surgery; it's painful in no way whatsoever and yet I am
pretty much house-bound, as there is very little I can do with one arm. Typing on my computer is one of the few
things I can do to spend my time, so I have decided to work on setting up my own website and an email server,
among other interesting things related to interent independence. My goal is to eventually be able to switch
from using Gmail to using my own mail server.
One of the really cool things about this project is the ability to put-into-practice some of the cool things I
learned in high school. My school offered a computer science subject, which I took all throughout. We learned
frontend development with HTML and CSS, and how to enhance it with JavaScript. I have spent a lot of time
revising these skills in the development of this site. We also learned about networking features like IP, TCP,
SMTP, HTTP vs HTTPS, etc. I never fully engaged with this part of the course, as I prefered programming, but
in working in setting up a website and an email server through Linux, I have been reintroduced to these processes.
I suppose it's only with hindsight and a bit of maturity where you really get to appreciate the opportunities
you have access to in the past.
Hopefully find this little project of mine interesting. I've got some big ideas for what I could do but we will
see if my coding skills are good enough to make them happen hahaha... damn I've got a lot of work to do.
